Christine Dale Glidden

Christine Dale Glidden, a former Wilton resident, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2015.

“She is lovingly remembered as a  charming and stylish personality once called the ‘Last Flapper,’” her family said.

She graduated from the Thomas School in Rowayton, Garland College in Boston and was awarded a Ford Foundation Scholarship for the Arts Students League in New York City. She had a distinguished career as a producer and director at broadcast and cable TV networks, including being part of five International Olympic Games. She is also an Emmy award winner.

As a board member of the National Art Museum of Sport (NAMOS), she was instrumental in founding four International Sport/Art Competitions. In retirement, along with her continued commitment to NAMOS, she enjoyed devoting time to her own artwork and spectacular English garden at the King Farm.

Ms. Glidden is survived by her two sisters Pamela Zapata and Dianna Glidden, nephews Alex and Mario Zapata, nieces Maya and Ariel Churchill and her fiancé William King of Redding, Conn.

A celebration of her life will take place in the late spring.

In lieu of flowers, Ms. Glidden asked that friends make a donation to the National Art Museum of Sport, nationalartmuseumofsport.org. For online condolences please visit hoytfuneralhome.com.
