Natalia Wienslaw (Pasichnyk), age 89, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully in her sleep in Wilton, Conn., on Friday the 8th of April.
Born in 1926, Natalia grew up in the Ukrainian section of Manhattan. She was the daughter of Anton and Kristina Pasichnyk and sister of the late Olga and Stephen. She met and married her husband, Arthur Eugene Wienslaw, in Manhattan and moved to Franklin Square, N.Y., where they raised a family and she lived for the majority of her adult life.
Natalia studied at both Cornell and NYU. She retired from the Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) after a 20-plus year career. She was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church in Garden City, N.Y., where she sang in the choir, served as Clerk of the Session and supported the church in many ways. She was President of and an active member of the PTA. She loved to travel, taking many trips around the world with her church group. Natalia was incredibly proud of her three children and their accomplishments, all working as engineers in various fields.
Natalia was predeceased by her husband, Arthur. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Arthur and Patricia Wienslaw of Wilton; Jonathan and Kathryn Wienslaw of Hollis, N.H.; and Valerie and William Perlowitz, of Fairfax, Va. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Kathryn Ferrero, Courtney Wienslaw and Betsy Patel, as well as step-grandchildren Erin and Eric Fritch She is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Peyton Ferrero, and great-grandson, Beckett Goettelmann.
Natalia will be laid to eternal rest with her husband at Calverton National Cemetery in Riverhead, N.Y., on Friday the 15th of April. A memorial service will be held at the United Presbyterian Church in Garden City, N.Y., at a later date.
Other than her family and her cats, Natalia loved nothing more than Winnie the Pooh. In the words of A.A. Milne, “If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.”
