Edwin Wiehe

Edwin Vernon Wiehe, formerly of Georgetown, died at his home in North Clarendon, Vt. on Dec. 13, 2013, following a long illness. He was 68 years old.

Mr. Wiehe was the husband of Elizabeth (Bette) Burr Wiehe and father to five children: Elizabeth Vitti (and husband John) of Georgetown, Brenda Broadhurst (and husband Walter) of Bethel, Diane Wiehe (and partner Art Anjone) of Ridgefield; Amy Bishop (and husband Sean) of Patterson, N.Y.; and Edwin Gustave Wiehe, II of Osaka, Japan. In addition, Mr. Wiehe is also the grandfather of 11 grandchildren: John Edwin, Amanda and Michael Vitti; Walter IV (and wife Annie), Samantha and Ashley Broadhurst; Allen Justin (AJ) Keeler; Avery, Casey, Amanda and Steven Bishop; and great-grandson Dominic John Vitti.

Survivors also include his mother, Mrs. Edwin Gustave Wiehe (Marion), his brother, Larry Wiehe (and wife Kathy), all of North Clarendon. Mr. Wiehe is predeceased by his father, Edwin Gustave Wiehe.

Mr. Wiehe, after serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, was proprietor of Ed Wiehe Hoisting and Pump Service of Georgetown for over 30 years.

A memorial gathering will take place Friday, Dec. 20, at 6 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 2 Emerson Street, East Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Vermont Veterans Association of Rutland, 15 Wales Street, Rutland, VT 05701; or the Burr Memorial Scholarship Fund, 18 Avenue D, Norwalk, CT 06854.
