William Michael Frasher, longtime resident of Ridgefield, Conn., died at Regional Hospice and Home Care in Danbury, Conn., on March 7, 2016. Born in Peoria, Ill., in 1940, the first child and only son of William and Imogene Frasher, Mike was a happy, good-natured person from the very start, who approached life with optimistic enthusiasm, generosity, and sense of fairness that was applied to all his endeavors.
When his family moved to western New York he cheerfully embraced his new surroundings and joined the Boys Club, where he spent many happy years playing basketball and forging friendships that lasted throughout his life. He graduated from East Aurora High School in 1958, proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam era, and returned to complete his BS in Finance and MBA at the University of Connecticut. During his lifelong career as a financial analyst at Pitney Bowes, Mike mentored countless young people and encouraged the vigorous exchange of ideas in pursuit of intellectual diligence.
A voracious reader with an insatiable curiosity, Mike was always eager to converse on any topic. An avid golfer for over 60 years, who recently “shot his age,” he was an ardent fan of college basketball and enjoyed nothing more than time with family and his many friends, just “shooting the breeze.” A jazz aficionado with an appetite for Italian food, lasagna in particular, his life philosophy of doing “what makes you happy” served him well.
A man of the highest integrity and the best big brother/brother-in-law/uncle/great uncle ever, Mike is survived and sorely missed by sisters Kathleen Frasher, Sara Frasher, sister and brother-in-law Laurie and Maurice Aburdene; nephew Joe Aburdene, niece and nephew-in-law Leila and John Zengel, and great-nephew and niece, Jacob and Julie Zengel. He was preceded in death by his sister Molly and parents, William and Imogene.
A celebration of his life will be held at a time to be determined by the family. Donations in his memory may be made to Regional Hospice and Home Care, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury, CT 06810 or the donor’s favorite charity.
