She was born to the late Wingfield and Edith Chick, February 18, 1939, in Richmond, Virginia, and resided in Bumpass, Virginia. She married Walter R. Scofield on August 24, 1963.

They lived in Wilton, CT, for over 20 years, where they owned and operated Wilton Lawn Service. In 1988, they retired to Manchester Center, Vermont.

Virginia loved spending time with her family and friends, cooking, playing cards, and watching the birds in her garden.

After graduating from high school, she attended The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, to pursue a teaching career. Upon graduation, she moved to Wilton, Connecticut, and taught first grade at Wilton Center School, until she met her husband and started a family.

She is survived by her daughters: Terri Scofield Chavez, of Montgomery Village, Maryland, and Sharon Scofield Morin, of Wilton, Connecticut. She is also survived by two sons-in-law: Luis Chavez and John Morin; four adoring grandchildren: Heather Morin, J.T. Morin, Trevor Chavez, and Sofia Chavez; a brother: Donnie Harvey of Bumpass, Virginia; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as her extended family: Jann, Joe, Judd, and Jenna Hoffman of Manchester Center, Vermont.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be sent to Second Chance Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 620 Shaftsbury, VT 05262 in honor of her beloved dog, Skylee.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held to celebrate the lives of Walter and Virginia Scofield, as they are now together again. Please join us at Hillside Cemetery in Wilton, CT, on July 12, 2014, at 2:00 p.m.
